They are a bit like energetic doorways that connect the physical-self with the soul-self. Each is linked to certain emotions, belief systems and body organs. If your animal friend for example is suffering from digestive problems, this could be linked to the solar plexus chakra. By working on this chakra, physical healing begins to generate in that area of the body and releases emotions being held there. This work invites in fresh vitality and well-being even for animals with long term and terminal illness.
